Clarity: “Put A Man on the Moon” or “Fix Social Security”?

by Mark Skaggs

in Clarity

A few years ago, I was talking with a friend about my readiness to tackle a new big important challenge in my career.

He suggested that I was better suited for a “Put a man on the moon in 10 years” type of challenge rather than a “Fix Social Security” type of challenge.

Thinking about it for a moment, I agreed. A “Put a man on the moon in 10 years” type of challenge excites and energizes me. It always has.

On the other hand, the thought of tackling a challenge like “Fixing Social Security” can have the opposite affect.

Now years since our conversation, I still benefit from my friend’s wisdom.

I’m sharing it so others might benefit too.

They key question for you: What type of challenge energizes you?
